A day trip to Exmouth
4:48 pm
I absolutely adore the beach. I grew up on a small island where you're only ever about fifteen minutes from the coast and you would pretty much see the sea every single day, so it's always brought some comfort to me. There's something so calming about looking out over the horizon at a seemingly never-ending ocean!
But enough about me and my love for the sea! This week, my boyfriend has come to visit me at university, which has given me the perfect opportunity to do lots of lovely things and show him around. So, naturally, we decided to take the train to the coast and have a day at the seaside!
We got up in the morning and made some sandwiches to take in a lunchbox with us, just like a cute little family picnic! The train station is pretty close to where I live, so we only had a short walk down the hill and there we were! Since I have a railcard (if you live in the UK and get the train regularly, I would seriously recommend getting one of these! 30% off on all of your journeys!), the tickets weren't very expensive at all and before long we were off on our little adventure! I always love getting the train, as it was never a regular occurrence as I was growing up on my little island, so it's a pretty big novelty for me! Plus, the English countryside is just gorgeous.
Once we arrived, we quickly made our way to the seafront (only getting lost once!) and, luckily for us, the sun decided to come out from behind the clouds, which made for quite a pretty picture!
We just enjoyed the sunshine and ambled along the promenade, which is apparently up to 2 miles long! We sat on some benches, ate some ice cream and took some pictures with my new selfie stick! (My dad got me one for Christmas, and I refuse to feel embarrassed about it! I know people are making fun of selfie sticks but they are actually really useful in taking better pictures!)
Some cute little beach huts next to the ice cream kiosk, which really added some brightness to the seafront! |
Next, we found a little crazy golf course! Now, I don't know about you but I absolutely love crazy golf! It's so much fun, and it doesn't matter if you're terrible at golf, or if you're a total pro! This course was filled with loads of crazy obstacles, like trying to put the ball underneath a giant moving windmill, or through tunnels and over hills! Super fun, and it was really funny as my boyfriend and I both had exactly the same score by the end of it!
As it got slightly cooler, we wandered back towards the station, going through the little town this time to have a look at the little shops (which were closed, sadly) and the cute houses. Although the town there is very small, it is certainly very pretty and a lovely place to get away for the weekend!
Gorgeous pastel-coloured houses - please can I live on a street like this?! |
So, all in all, a really lovely day and a great thing to do at the weekend! If you're ever at a loss for what to do, I recommend looking into getting a train to a different place for the day - it truly is an adventure and you're pretty much guaranteed to have a fantastic day!
That's pretty much all from me today - I'm sure there'll be some more posts soon about what we've been up to this week (including photos from a truly wonderful sweet shop we discovered!) Hope you've enjoyed this post, and feel free to leave a comment below about what you got up to this weekend!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I've followed your blog :) xx
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the beach, and living in the heart of London, I don't have anywhere near enough time to be there as much as I'd love to. Your pictures are gorgeous lovely, those pastel houses are so pretty :)

Thank you so much! That means a lot, coming from someone with a blog as successful as yours! I think London is just as magical in its own way, and living away from the beach will just make it even more special when you do have the chance to go!
