Hey everybody!
So I've got something a bit different lined up for you today - it's my flatmate's birthday tomorrow and, as a college student, I'm pretty short on cash so I decided to put on my artsy hat and get crafty! At uni we call it a "crafternoon"... Anyway, I've seen these melted crayon canvases a lot on Pinterest and Tumblr and I made one for myself a couple of years ago and it turned out pretty well, so I thought I'd give it a go again so that my flatmate would have a funky new piece of room decor! So, without further ado, here's my DIY guide to making a melted crayon canvas!

So, without further ado, here's my DIY guide to making a melted crayon canvas!
You will need...
- A canvas, any size you want! You can get them pretty cheap on Amazon.
- A pack of wax crayons
- A hairdryer
- Either superglue or double sided tape
The Method
1. Line up the crayons in the order that you want them to be in - I chose a rainbow spectrum order but they would look just as cool in any random order!
2. I decided to take the wrappers off my crayons and cut them to be a little shorter since the canvas I chose was quite small, so I just used a ruler to measure and a regular kitchen knife to chop them to be the same length as each other.
My messy work station! |
3. Either use a hot glue gun or sticky backed plastic to attach the crayons to the top of the canvas, either landscape or portrait. Then it's time for the fun part! Using a hairdryer, angle the heat towards the bottom half of the crayons so that the wax begins to melt down the canvas!
And that's pretty much it! Let me know if you make your own canvases and how they turn out!
Happy crafting!
