Theme parks, crazy golf and my very first pumpkin

1:30 am

Well well well, what a day I've had! I'd even go so far as to say that this has been one of my favourite days since moving to this strange new city, and that's quite a large statement to make considering I've been here for about 40 days now!

It's half term at the moment, which means I don't have any classes/lectures/seminars! I basically have the entire week to do whatever I like, and I took this opportunity to go to a theme park with Steph's cousin! Although this meant getting up pretty early to make sure we could go on the bigger rides before the queues built up, it was definitely worth it. Elly and I only met a few days ago but we've gotten on so well and we had such a fun time running around this adventure park, pretending to be little kids again. Everything from the pic 'n' mix to the merry-go-round just screamed childhood fun.

Elly's mum had made us a cute little packed lunch, which we ate sitting on a little bench overlooking a small lake and the entire theme park. She even gave us £10 spending money each, with which I bought my pic 'n' mix (obviously), as well as a bracelet and magnet - little souvenirs to remember the day!

We left the park about mid-afternoon, got picked up by Steph's mum and taken to a cute little town to play crazy golf! Now, I don't know about you but I'm a massive fan of crazy golf, despite my atrocious skill. It is always so fun, no matter what your ability is! And although I came third out of the four of us, I had a really great time.

Moving on to the final section of my day... Returning to Elly's house to carve our pumpkins! I forgot to mention earlier but, since it's Halloween this week, the theme park were giving out free pumpkins to all of the visitors! Amazing! I picked up a really cute little one, since my uni room is pretty small, and it fits perfectly on my windowsill! Elly's dad is pretty good at carving pumpkins, so (after scrubbing it clean) I drew the design on mine for him to carve out. Once that was done, it was down to me to hollow out all of the pumpkin mush in the middle! (I probably should have mentioned before, but I've never carved a pumpkin before, so this is my very first one, making it even more exciting!) We also managed to pick up some electric candle tea lights to put inside my pumpkin, since we're not allowed candles in our dorm rooms (safety hazard). The tea lights were really cheap but also really effective and look great inside the pumpkin! They even have a realistic flicker to them, which is perfect for a spooky effect on Halloween. I'm really happy with my first ever pumpkin and he looks absolutely fantastic sitting on the windowsill of my bedroom.

So, all in all, a pretty wonderful day! I hope you're all having a great week, wherever you are and whatever you're getting up to!
